Emmanuel Evening Worship Band

The Aim of the evening worship band is to lead people confidently, sensitively and joyfully in worship to our great God. We aim to produce a good sound through Gods help not for performance sake but to allow people to focus on God and not on us.

In the past year the group has been fairly stable in its members with the addition of three new people starting to play with us. Having fresh ideas and new instruments playing has been a real blessing and I would like encourage anyone with a heart for God and even a small gift of music to offer their gifts, and to come and join us in the band. The new sound system has led to massive improvements in the reliability of the sound reinforcement and has allowed us to focus on God with fewer distractions!

Emmanuel Fellowship

An opportunity for fellowship and support for the older members of our congregation and their friends in the community. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays in the month from 2.30 to 4 pm in the Parish Hall.

Home Groups

Many members of the congregation belong to home groups which meet weekly to read the bible, discuss, pray and enjoy each others company.

The four existing groups (meeting on Monday afternoon, Monday evening and two on Wednesday evening) have continued to meet both to study books of the Bible and a series on evangelism. In a new departure they also used a short video series produced by the Evangelical Alliance to further consider aspects of faith-sharing and questions related to how welcoming the church is to non- Christians. Homegroups also put on their own social functions, and a number invited speakers from Wycliffe Hall to be present during the RSVP mission.

Men's Breakfast

Held about every six weeks at 8.00am on a Saturday morning. An opportunity to hear a  speaker and have a 'full fry up'

Mothers Union

Meets in the church hall at 2.30 on the last Tuesday each month except August

Monthly Prayer Meeting

To develop and express a dependence and trust in the Lord for our planning, initiative and action in the parish .   There is now a consistent group, which meets. Now that some of the frills we used to encourage people’s initial participation have disappeared it is very encouraging to see that it is prayer itself that draws people to the meeting. Highlight was when we forgot to advertise or promote the meeting, but people just turned up anyway!

Pastoral Team

To visit and support those in need. To maintain contact with those associated with the church and to co-ordinate prayer at Sunday morning Holy Communion. In December, nearly 50 names from the Yellow Pages were contacted with details of the Christmas activities and services.

‘Traidcraft’ Monthly Stall

To raise awareness in the congregation of the necessity to buy ‘Fair Trade’ products and ensure a fair deal for third world producers.

Welcome Suppers

To welcome newcomers into the church, getting to know them personally and giving them a chance to engage with church activities.

During the year there have been three suppers. People have enjoyed relaxing over a meal together, some have gone on to become more fully integrated into church life and some have moved on, but at least they have had a chance to engage if they wanted to.
