Book Club: The first book we are reading is "Can we believe Genesis today? The Bible and the questions of science" by Ernest C. Lucas. If you did not order a copy through the bookstall, please feel free to purchase your own copy and/or share around amongst yourselves. The intention is to meet in some three months time (December) to discuss issues that Lucas raises in the book.

Child Contact: The Child contact service operates on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month in the church hall. It provides a supported safe, happy, child centred environment for families who are working through the trauma of family breakdown. We only continue to function through the dedication and commitment of the team of Receptionists, Refreshment providers, Organisers and our Treasurer who give of their Saturday afternoon, every 4 to 8 weeks.

Emmanuel Fellowship: Meets in the church hall at 2:00pm on the 3rd Tuesday each month except August.

Friends of Emmanuel: Put on talks and concerts for the community. They are designed as an outreach to non-church people, an opportunity for fund-raising for fabric improvements, and entertainment. Coming up: Friday 14th March, Talk: "Early Genesis. Myth, Miracle or What?" Dr Matt Frost, Chair Christians in Science South-West. Tickets £3 to include canapes, at Mannamead News or on the door. Start 7.30pm.

Music: A contemporary worship band lead our singing every Sunday evening and on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month in the morning. Our aim is to use both modern songs and the best of the established older hymns. We also have a fine church organ which accompanies some of the congregational singing. Practice Sundays at 5:00pm.

Pastoral Team: To visit and support those in need. To maintain contact with those associated with the church and to co-ordinate prayer at Sunday morning Holy Communion.

Social Responsibility Group: A team of church members who exist to raise the congregational awareness of some of the social implications of the Gospel. The church has fair trade status, runs a monthly fair trade stall and through the social responsibility group have promoted a number of social action and justice concerns.

Soup Run: Every Saturday teams take turns on the run. Work together in teams with Methodist Central Hall and use their facilities.

Tea Break: Every Friday 1:45-3:30pm in the church halls. Everyone welcome, (mainly) over 60's in the Mannamead area. It is a social gathering every Friday afternoon (less a few holidays) when tea is provided and table games, knitting, music and conversation are enjoyed.
